Letter From the President

Welcome to the North Carolina Literacy Association (NCLA). Our mission is to initiate support and develop technical assistance and advocacy for community-based literacy organizations. NCLA members serve adults who want to improve their basic life skills or learn English as a Second Language. NCLA provides opportunities for networking, training, and professional support for community based programs. The North Carolina Literacy Association is an affiliate of ProLiteracy Worldwide, Inc.

Every North Carolinian should possess the knowledge and skills necessary to compete successfully in a global economy. Adults who improve their basic educational skills improve their employment status, parenting abilities, and their self-confidence.

NCLA has over 30 community based literacy organizations and individuals across North Carolina as members. If you are an adult learner, or want to volunteer, there are programs in your area that will welcome you. To find an adult literacy program near you, please click on Membership.
